In the first Test match against Sri Lanka, Team India emerged victorious by 165 runs at the Galle International Cricket Stadium near Galle Fort.
In an attempt to chase a target of 372 runs, Sri Lanka was bowled out for 206 runs. Sonal Dinusha delivered a fighting knock, but failed to secure a win for his team. Facing 128 balls, he smashed 84 runs, including eight boundaries and a maximum. Keshara Nuwantha was dismissed on 20 runs in 69 balls, including three boundaries.
Prabath Jayasuriya and Lahiru Kumara registered one and four-ball ducks, respectively. Asitha Fernando faced one ball and stayed unbeaten without scoring any runs.
Earlier, Sri Lanka’s opening batsman Nishan Madushka departed on six runs after facing 27 balls. Fellow opening batsman Lahiru Udara returned to the pavilion on 16 runs in 58 balls, including a boundary. Pasindu Sooriyabandara was dismissed on a one-ball duck. Kamindu Mendis also managed to score two runs in 12 balls.
Team India’s Manav Suthar returned with the figures of six wickets for 55 runs in 23.4 overs. Prasidh Krishna also claimed two wickets by conceding 16 runs in 10 overs. Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja bagged one wicket each. Kuldeep Yadav and Devdutt Padikkal went wicketless in Sri Lanka’s second innings of the first Test match.

Team India was bowled out for 193 runs on Day 4 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium near Galle Fort.
The visitors have a lead of 371 runs.
Coming to bat in the second innings, Team India’s opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal departed on a three-ball duck. Fellow opening batsman KL Rahul departed after scoring 35 runs in 47 balls, with the help of two boundaries and the same number of maximums.
Skipper Shubman Gill was dismissed on eight runs in 20 balls, which included a boundary. Devdutt Padikkal returned to the pavilion after scoring 44 runs off 75 balls. His knock was laced with six boundaries. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant smashed 66 runs in 69 balls, including eight boundaries and two maximums. Facing 15 balls, Dhruv Jurel was dismissed on seven runs, which included a boundary.
Ravindra Jadeja and Manav Suthar registered the scores of nine runs. Jadeja faced 19 balls, whereas Suthar’s knock of 25 balls included a boundary.
Kuldeep Yadav departed on five runs in 10 balls, followed by Prasidh Krishna’s wicket. He scored two runs in seven balls. Mohammed Siraj stayed unbeaten on two runs in six balls.
Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando claimed four wickets for 31 runs in 8.5 overs. Prabath Jayasuriya bagged three wickets by conceding 43 runs in 11 overs. Lahiru Kumara and Keshara Nuwantha registered two and one wicket each to their names. Captain Dhananjaya de Silva went wicketless in Team India’s second innings of the first Test match.
