In a major update for iOS users, WhatsApp has started to roll out its long-awaited paid subscription service, WhatsApp Plus. The latest addition by WhatsApp will bring a range of premium personalisation features to iPhone users.
The optional premium subscription by the Meta-backed online messaging application marks the platform’s latest move to diversify beyond its traditionally free messaging model.
WhatsApp Plus offers a customised messaging experience.
The new premium tier is designed for users seeking a more customised messaging experience while keeping WhatsApp’s core chat and calling services free. While rolling out the new feature, WhatsApp further stated that the standard experience, including private messaging, voice calls, and video calls, will remain unchanged and accessible to all users.
What’s new in ‘Plus’?
Under the WhatsApp Plus subscription, users will gain exclusive access to exclusive app themes and custom icons, allowing them to personalise the platform’s appearance.
As per WhatsApp, subscribers can also send premium stickers with special effects, set unique ringtones for important contacts, and customise chat lists with personalised alerts and themes.
Users can now pin up to 20 chats using the `Plus` feature
One of the most notable additions is an increased chat pinning limit, allowing subscribers to pin up to 20 conversations, compared to the current standard limit, making it easier for heavy users to keep important chats readily accessible.
How to subscribe to ‘WhatsApp Plus’?
The subscription can be managed by clicking on

After clicking on WhatsApp Plus, users can activate and explore available benefits.
WhatsApp further highlighted that the feature is currently being rolled out in limited regions and may not yet be visible to all users. The company has advised users to keep the app updated via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to receive new features as they become available.
The subscription renews automatically every month unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the next billing cycle.
Meta has also warned that WhatsApp Plus is supported only on official versions of WhatsApp Messenger, and using unofficial modified apps could lead to temporary or permanent account bans.
The rollout signals Meta’s growing focus on premium digital services while maintaining WhatsApp’s commitment to free, reliable, and private communication for its global user base.
