Women's Junior Asia Cup: India demolish Pakistan 19-0 to reach semifinals

India stormed into the semifinals of the Women’s Junior Asia Cup after a ruthless 19-0 demolition of rival Pakistan on Thursday. The Indian team showed complete control from the opening whistle to register one of the biggest victories in the history of the competition.

India scored 19 goals, earned 18 penalty corners, and converted one penalty stroke. Meanwhile, Pakistan failed to manage a single goal, penalty corner, or penalty stroke across the entire four quarters. With the quarterfinal victory secured, India will now prepare to face the winner of the clash between Korea and Malaysia in Saturday’s semifinal.

India enjoyed a fast-paced start, building momentum with five goals in the opening quarter before adding five more in the second to carry a massive 10-0 lead into the half-time break. They maintained their intensity after the restart, tacking on three goals in the third quarter and pouring in six more during the final frame to seal the last-four spot.

India dominate Pakistan to secure a record-breaking win

The scoring opened in the seventh minute when Puja Sahoo converted India’s third penalty corner. Roshni Aind quickly doubled the advantage two minutes later with a field goal, followed by a Tanushree Kadu deflection off another corner in the 11th minute. Sukhveer Kaur then coolly converted a 13th-minute penalty stroke before Sanika Mane made it 5-0 before the end of the first quarter.

India’s forward line continued to push forward in the second period, with Madhu Sidar and Geeta Yadav stretching the lead to 7-0. Sanika completed her brace in the 23rd minute, Tanuja Toppo scored her first of the match, and Pooja Malik converted a penalty corner to push the scoreline into double digits before half-time.

The domination continued after the break as Purnima Yadav, Madhu, and Supriya added third-quarter goals. In the fourth quarter, Krishna Sharma scored her first tournament goal, while Pooja completed her hat-trick with goals in the 49th and 51st minutes. Late conversions from Supriya, Binima Dhan, and Roshni capped off an emphatic 19-0 victory.

India will now face the winner of the clash between Korea and Malaysia in Saturday’s semifinal.
