The Chennai Super Kings beat the Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets to get a much-needed win in Chennai. Urvil Patel was the star of the show for the hosts, scoring the joint fastest fifty in IPL history.
Chasing 204 runs for the win, CSK got off to a fast start as openers Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad gave them a fast start. Samson scored 28 runs in 15 balls before being dismissed by Digvesh Rathi.
In at 3, Urvil Patel attacked the LSG bowlers from the off, hitting 5 sixes in his first six balls. The right-handed batter scored the joint fastest IPL fifty in just 13 balls. He was eventually dismissed for 65 runs in just 23 balls, but the damage was already done.
Shivam Dube and Prashant Veer finished the innings for CSK, getting to the target with 5 wickets to spare. CSK skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, scored a fighting 42 in 28 balls as well to set up the chase for the hosts.
For LSG, Digvesh Rathi was the star with the ball with 2 wickets, but his 2 dropped catches played a bigger role in the outcome of the match.
Josh Inglis starred as LSG scored 203 in the first innings
The Lucknow Super Giants scored 203 runs in their 20 overs against the Chennai Super Kings in Chennai. Josh Inglis and Shahbaz Ahmed starred with the bat for the visitors.
Josh Inglis smashed a 17-ball half-century as the Lucknow Super Giants dominated the Chennai Super Kings in the early part of their match. The visitors raced to 91 runs for the loss of one wicket at the end of the powerplay.
Inglis` innings included 10 fours and 6 sixes as he scored 85 runs in just 33 balls. His opening partner, Mitchell March, was dismissed for a run-a-ball 10 by Anshul Kamboj.
After a fast start, LSG lost wickets in clusters and were reduced to 115/4 at the halfway stage of the innings. However, a cameo from Shahbaz Ahmed took LSG past 200 against the Chennai Super Kings. Ahmed scored 43 runs in 25 balls, including 3 fours and 3 sixes.
