The Chennai Super Kings beat the Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets to get a much-needed win in Chennai. Urvil Patel was the star of the show for the hosts, scoring the joint fastest fifty in IPL history.

Chasing 204 runs for the win, CSK got off to a fast start as openers Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad gave them a fast start. However, Urvil Patel`s 65 runs in 23 balls took the game away from LSG.

Speaking after the loss, Rishabh Pant said that he thought his team had the runs on the board, but CSK batters took the game away from them.

“It was a great game. Everything was coming up nicely. We knew we would be put under pressure in the powerplay. When you come to Chennai, that is the kind of cricket you expect. Felt there was enough on the board. Fielding standards have to be up there, too many dropped catches. Urvil played a fantastic and unbelievable knock, like Inglis for us. The team showed character (to come back). Definitely a few areas to work on but kudos to CSK – they held their nerve better than us. The way we started, we would have liked to have more. We knew 200-210 would be a good target.” Pant said.

Josh Inglis starred as LSG scored 203 in the first innings

The Lucknow Super Giants scored 203 runs in their 20 overs against the Chennai Super Kings in Chennai. Josh Inglis and Shahbaz Ahmed starred with the bat for the visitors.

Josh Inglis smashed a 17-ball half-century as the Lucknow Super Giants dominated the Chennai Super Kings in the early part of their match. The visitors raced to 91 runs for the loss of one wicket at the end of the powerplay.

Inglis` innings included 10 fours and 6 sixes as he scored 85 runs in just 33 balls. His opening partner, Mitchell March, was dismissed for a run-a-ball 10 by Anshul Kamboj.

After a fast start, LSG lost wickets in clusters and were reduced to 115/4 at the halfway stage of the innings. However, a cameo from Shahbaz Ahmed took LSG past 200 against the Chennai Super Kings. Ahmed scored 43 runs in 25 balls, including 3 fours and 3 sixes.
