IPL 2026: Rajasthan Royals beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets; Move into the top 3

The Rajasthan Royals stunned the Punjab Kings by 6 wickets to end their unbeaten run. RR chased down a massive total of 223 with 6 wickets to spare and moved to number 3 in the table.

RR got off to a flying start while chasing PBKS` target of 223 runs to win. Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 43 runs in 16 balls to give RR a fast start.

The RR opening duo of Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched together a partnership of 51 runs in just 20 balls to give the visitors a great platform for a big run chase. However, the PBKS bowlers soon found a way back into the game.

Sooryavanshi departed after scoring 43 runs off just 16 deliveries. His innings included 3 fours and 5 sixes. He was eventually dismissed by Arshdeep Singh, caught at mid off by Shreyas Iyer.

Jaiswal scored his half-century but departed soon after. The southpaw scored 51 runs in 27 balls before being dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal also got the wicket of RR skipper Riyan Parag with the last ball of his spell. 

In the end, Donovan Ferreira scored a match-winning 52 runs in 26 balls. He was well supported by Shubham Dubey, who scored an unbeaten 31 runs in just 12 deliveries to take RR home.

For PBKS, Chahal was the star bowler with 3 wickets for 36 runs in his four overs.

This was Punjab Kings` first defeat of the season after starting the IPL 2026 with a bang. Despite the defeat, PBKS stay at the top of the table.

PBKS scored 222 runs after Stoinis` heroics

Earlier, the Punjab Kings scored 222 runs for the loss of 4 wickets at the end of their 20 overs against the Rajasthan Royals in New Chandigarh. Prabhsimran Singh and Marcus Stoinis starred with the bat for the hosts as they dominated the RR bowling attack.

PBKS scored 65 runs in the first six overs as the Punjab openers continued their fine form with the bat. Prabhsimran Singh continued his great form as he scored 59 runs in 44 balls, including 6 fours and 1 six.

PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer kept the scoring rate high as he continued his supreme form. The Indian star scored 30 runs to take PBKS to 222 runs at the end of 20 overs. The Aussie star Marcus Stoinis chipped in with 62 runs in 22 balls to give the PBKS innings a strong finish.

For RR, Yash Raj Punja was the best bowler, finishing his spell with 2/41. Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger chipped in with a wicket too.
