The Rajasthan Royals got off to a flying start while chasing Punjab Kings’ target of 223. Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed 43 off just 16 balls to provide early momentum.
The RR opening pair of Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched together a 51-run partnership in only 20 balls, laying a strong foundation for the chase.
Sooryavanshi was eventually dismissed for 43 (16), an innings that included three fours and five sixes. He fell to Arshdeep Singh, caught at mid-off by Shreyas Iyer.
Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his fine form, racing to 31 off 12 balls. The left-hander remains crucial to RR’s hopes of chasing down PBKS’ imposing total.
Earlier, Punjab Kings posted 222/4 in their 20 overs against Rajasthan Royals in New Chandigarh. Prabhsimran Singh and Marcus Stoinis led the charge with the bat, dominating the RR bowling attack.
PBKS raced to 65 in the powerplay as their openers maintained their strong form. Prabhsimran Singh scored 59 off 44 balls, hitting six fours and a six.
Captain Shreyas Iyer kept the momentum going with a brisk 30, while Marcus Stoinis played a blistering knock of 62 off just 22 deliveries to power PBKS to a formidable total.
For RR, Yash Raj Punja was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/41. Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger picked up a wicket each.
