In the second ODI match against Team India, New Zealand has reached the score of 73 runs for the loss of five wickets in 25 overs at the Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington.
Batting first, New Zealand’s opening batsman Will Young departed after scoring just six runs in 17 balls, which included a boundary. Fellow opening batsman Tim Seifert was dismissed on five-ball duck.
Henry Nicholls managed to score 11 runs off 26 balls, including a boundary. Wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Latham returned to the pavilion after scoring just seven runs in 22 balls, whereas Glenn Phillips also departed on a four-ball duck.
Daryl Mitchell and captain Mitchell Santner are unbeaten at the crease. The duo will look to stabilise New Zealand’s innings and build on a partnership.
Team India’s Auqib Nabi and Gurnoor Brar have tasted early success and claimed two wickets each. Anshul Kamboj has also bagged one wicket. Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel are yet to claim any wickets.
Earlier, Team India’s skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bowl first against the “Black Caps”. After winning the toss, Gill said, “We will bowl first. No surprises, the conditions are overcast and the wicket was under covers. Yesterday’s practice was called off because of rain, but we have prepared well and are in good spirits. Same team for us”.
On the other hand, New Zealand’s captain Santner said, “Looks like a lovely day to bowl first, but we’ll see how the wicket plays and put up a score. Rain around, it’s been under covers, will do a bit. Need to get over the tricky period. We’re excited, some weather around and we have had a nice rest. They’re a great side, winning the toss does help, but they’ve played well. Same team for us”.
